Freezing Cold Friday Calls For Some Ice Cube

One of my all-time favorite movies 'Friday', and a phenomenal soundtrack to go along with it. I figure since it's Friday, and it's snowy and cold, that I am somehow required by the laws of music to drop this vid on the jay-strings crew...break yo' self fools!

Friday Funk You Up

Same song. Different Video. New Day.

I Will Make No Objection to Shakira

With Shakira not on The Voice this season, I will have to get my weekly doses here. Is she the greatest female rocker since Stevie Nicks? I have no "Objection".

White City - Face the Face

The weekend snow got me looking at Pete Townsend White City.. and one of my favorite Pete songs,  Face the Face.
Who says a trombone solo doesn't ROCK ! ?.... and it looks like Pete is wearing one of my jackets...

Glen Campbell - I'm Not Gonna Miss You

Tim McGraw had moving performance of Glen Campbell's last song last night on the Oscars. Powerful words and emotion. Have a great day, friends.

Best Loverboy Song Ever?

TGIF people...we've all been 'working for the weekend' and it made me wonder...what is everyone's favorite Loverboy song (duets with Ann Wilson don't count!!)? This is a really tough choice to make, but I had to go with...

A Little Alternating Current

A colleague in Europe texted me that the power was out...  so I sent him a little electricity
Just off the press...

How About A Little Double-Take From The 80's

Caleb and I were driving listening to 80's on 8 Sirius radio and this song came on and he loved it. I then introduced him to the videos and explained Danny Elfman, the guy who pretty much composes every score for movies nowadays...anyway here's two from Oingo Boingo!

Who Wouldn't?

Killer pick up line

50 Shades of Paradise

For those couples snowed in their car while driving home from the 50 Shades of Grey movie... I present you the MEAT !!

Black Cat Licorice + Interactive Video = AWESOME!

You need to view this video on a computer so you can toggle between the three different videos to create your own. I originally thought this would be hoakie, but I have to admit, it is so clean and clever, I am sharing it everywhere today... starting right here!

Alive Inside - So Alive

Ellie is working on her 5th Grade Exhibition where she is tasked to research Music and its effects on our Health. We watched this AMAZING documentary last night on NETFLIX, "Alive Inside". I could not help but think of the Jay-Strings and how I know I look just like these subjects in the movie when I get an email with your song selections. Check it out:

And my selection for the day... Love & Rockets' "So Alive"... just seemed fitting.

How About Some Soft-Core and Girl-On-Girl For Your Thursday Morning?

Gentlemen, keep your hands on your keyboard/mouse at all times during the ride.

In Preparation for Valentines Day

The Dunwells "So Beautiful" Live Acoustic Performance

These guys opened for Sheryl Crow in Denver a few years ago. All of their songs are great - meaningful lyrics and addictive harmonies. You might just start singing along.

Dedicate this one to your Valentine... or yourself, you selfish bastards.

Uncontrollable Women of the 80's!

So here are two selections from the 80's about some out of control girlfriends! The first one is simply awesome because it has Rick James in it.

And since the second is classic because of the ending.s

I Blame It On My A.D.D.

Had to carry this over from Jen's previous post. By the sound, I always thought this group was like Daft Punk, where it was one or two guys over some computers making the music. This is cool to see them in action.
Hers reminded of this song.

Hers also reminded me of this video.

Beware the Bad Wolf

I'm back

Peaky F#@&ing Blinders

I came across this band after watching the Peaky Blinders on netflix (Jake knows about this show, Strings I highly recommend). Checkout Red Right Hand from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds!

Tribute

I just heard last night that Paco de Lucia dies last year...  One of my favorite guitarists...

Here he is playing Gitanos Andaluces

We also lost Joe Cocker - our first dance as a married couple was his You are so Beautiful
Iam Maclagan - keyboardist of Rod Stewart's band FACES
Bobby Keys - Rolling Stone sax player and sessions player
Jack Bruce - bass player and singer for CREAM
Isaiah "Ikey" Owens - Keynoardist for Jack White

And
Big Bank Hank - Rapper  most famous for this song... and sing a long... cause like me you know ALL THE WORDS !!

Rest in Peace and thanks for the music.

Who Do You Love?

I awoke singing this tune by Bo Diddley. I had this song on the La Bamba Soundtrack on vinyl. We would play it often while shooting pool at my parents home. It reminds me of good times, so let them roll!

It's 2 Hump Wednesday, Bishes!

Did any of you get a chance to listen to the Jack White concert live last Friday on Pandora? I got the first three songs before being pulled away. I did listen to the entire "replay" Pandora is offering. Don't think it is the entire show though.
Ran across this interview of Jack White before the show, and I am even more of a fan. Enjoy.

And so you know... this is the White Stripes parody by Weird Al.
CNR!

Remember this guy on Hollywood Squares?

Hey Tiger & Lance...I Wanna Know!

Lance Armstrong was in the news recently because he was driving drunk and struck several cars, and being the stand-up guy he is he decided to allow his girlfriend to take the blame. Then there's Tiger Woods (a.k.a. Cheatah Woods), who will go down in history as the greatest athlete to fall down into the bowels of shameful disgrace. With that said, I'd like to know Lance and Tiger...where do the down boys go?

A Post For Seattle's Marshawn Lynch, The Skittle Eating "Beast-Mode"...Taste This Rainbow!

It's only fitting since Beast-Mode didn't get the ball on the 1 yard line to win the Super Bowl...that he became the "Rainbow In The Dark".

Steve Morse for coffee

Enjoying a little Steve Morse for coffee time...   there are better sounding versions of this song... but I like the rawness of this live version...

... for some reason Youtube in this blog couldn't find the video.. so hear's a link

Steve Morse
