The Northwest climate has me reflecting today:

At 20 years of age, I moved out. I relocated 700 miles and another state away from my family and friends to attend college. That first summer on my own had some extremely lonely days. It allowed moments for reflection on my values and relationships. Armed with a handful of new CDs, the songs contained on them have become my soundtrack for that time of self-discovery.


The thing I remember most was the introduction to a monsoon rain storm. Most rain I had experienced was a day or week long event. These were one and two hour cloud and lightning bursts that leave as fast as they enter. The result is an amazing cleansing of everything. These songs further engrained the feeling of enlightenment for me that summer of ‘93.

One of the things I have always liked about B.B. is how on multiple live recordings, (and I experienced it too) he would talk to the crowd to liven them up. It wasn't too demanding, but he would just repeat himself and the crowd would understand and start cheering him on.

BB King passed away...  what an impact he had on our music...  and as far as I know... when he was 86 was still playing over 240 shows a week..

So Saturday I couldn't help but post The Fratelli's song used by the Chicago Blackhawks. Here's another band that I didn't realize was being used as a NHL goal song. This one from Dropkick Murphy's is used by the Florida Panthers...hell yeah!!

You Gotta Believe Me...There's This Band Called The Fratelli's and They Play Really Cool Songs, Especially This One!!!

Okay so I realize it's Saturday...but who the hell said we couldn't post on the weekend anyways? This was recently voted on as the best 'goal' song of all NHL hockey teams. Every time the Chicago Blackhawks score they rock this piece...freaking awesome! I recommend the entire album as it is masterful...enjoy!
