Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
Paint it and then Burn it!
A great playlist of many of their songs.
Watched a good movie called "CBGB" about the notorious location that supposedly sparked the punk movement in which included these cats. It is available on Netflix.

Aloha......
Listening to this song today... it takes me back as I had a chance to work with Israel while I was in Hawaii...
Most famous for his What a Wonderful World cover... but I like this one
and HAPA.... which mean s whitey or foreigner in Hawaii
in the beginning he is saying "the smell of the pikake flower is picked up by a gentle breeze and carried to my nose... and that reminds me of you"

Guess where I wish I was today....
Oscar Nominated - Sting - Empty Chair
Well, of course, the Sting concert was freakin' amazing. It was like he was in my living room, we were so close. We both said how much we just would like to hang out with him, so personable, so cool.
He ended his encore as he started it, alone on a chair with a guitar. He ended with this song from a documentary movie up for an Oscar, (along with this song). It is about the reporter that was beheaded by ISIS, James Foley.
It has been on my mind as I have been researching so many aspects of our nation's military history, but is fitting for anyone.
Enjoy.

Greg Kihn Band - Jeopardy (1983)
The Graduate meets Night of the Living Dead in 80's fashion. Enjoy. For some reason I always thought that The Police did this one. Same time period, I guess. And I was only eleven.

We Must Fight For Our Right!
First time I encountered this one was on Guitar Hero. Killer solo section that was a bear to pass. Never saw the video until now. KICK ASS! Spaghetti Western, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, and Kung Fu all rolled into one bad ass rock song video. Watching again, I see references to Planet of the Apes and Lone Ranger too. Anyone see anything else?

Kaz with Chuck Rainey
Here is a very close friend Kaz playing with Chuck Rainey in Japan... you've heard Chuck on albums from Steely Dan to Aretha, Joe Walsh, Herbie Hancock... and a billion others...
Kaz passed away 18 months ago... he was a very good friend for a long time... and one of the most soulful players I've seen... He did a great version of Joe Cocker You are so beautiful for our first dance at our wedding.. then went right in to Why don't we all go get stoned...
Kaz, your missed !!

"If you ever go to Houston, boy, you better walk right"
Huddie William "Lead Belly" Ledbetter's Angola Prison tune derived from an American slave folklore song pays the typical correctional facility and crime-twisted tribute to the host of this year's Stooper Bowl, Houston, Texas.
May the Atlanta Falcons be that "Midnight Special" come Sunday.

Check this....
OK.. maybe not the best song to have in the blog.... Michaal Phillips playing the National Anthem on the sax... but listen to what he does at about 1:15 in to it.... he holds this monster note for over 20 seconds... its called circular breathing... watch the video.. he keeps air going out of his mouth while he breathes in through his nose... very difficult...
The Prophet Song
One of my most favorite Queen songs of all time. I could not find a Freddie Mercury concert with this song that I felt did the recorded version justice, but I did find this tribute band, The Queen Extravaganza that NAILS IT! So here we go, from Zombies to Prophets:
And in my search, I found this great little documentary on the story behind the song, which I have always wondered about listening to the harmonies blaring in my ear drums in stereo, imagining a choir standing all around me.
